The movie stars Kalki Koechlin (as Ruth) alongwith Naseeruddin Shah, Prashant Prakash, Gulshan Devaiya, Shivkumar Subramaniam, Divya Jagdale, Kumud Mishra and Kartik Krishnan amongst others.
Its written by Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Koechlin. Music of the film is by Naren Chandavarkar and the cinematography is by Rajeev Ravi. Play.

That Girl in Yellow Boots is a thriller tracing Ruth’s (Kalki Koechlin) search for her father – a man she hardly knew but cannot forget. Desperation drives her to work without a permit, at a massage parlour. Torn between several schisms, Mumbai becomes the alien but yet strangely familiar backdrop for Ruth’s quest. She struggles to find her independence and space even as she is sucked deeper into the labyrinthine politics of the city’s underbelly. A city that feeds on her misery, a love that eludes her and above all, a devastating truth that she must encounter. And everyone wants a piece of her.

Blah, this movie does not interest me at all. If I want to watch movies about sex and violence, I can just watch Hollywood or European movies where it is done better and the actors are less self-conscious about cursing, nudity and sex.
Sad to say but Kalki has no screen presence and the only scene with some punch was the scene with Naseer.

I’m not a hater. I loved Black Friday but this movie from the scenes shown has no impact on me so far.
Lately I have seen your defensive attitude and snide comments whenever someone does not praise you and your work. It is not an attractive trait and is turning people off to you. Pride (and arrogance) goes before a fall.

may be this film and everyother film i make is not for you.. you should follow people whose work you like.. i never watch or bother to even read about people whose work i don’t like.. why waste your time over some pretentious me..

Looks like a nice movie.. but have shades of Dev D and this trailer fails to give a clear idea about the movie without the text..
@ Anurag, why your movies always have to be about sex, violence and cursing? Also, I feel your movies are appearing monotonous.. story may be different, but the way to present it is becoming too similar.
Its hard hitting. Another intense movie from AK. Trying to explore the life of people whom we pretend to ignore easily but still they exist in the very same city.
I like it. The Khuda and Paisa scene were hilarious. First and last scene were a bit gimmickry and lame, but chalta hain, everyone does it. Oh, I don’t like Kalki as well.. But ‘on the whole’, i like it.
That was better than Dev D Film. 😀
Looks like the story would be good. Never explored territory so far.
But I don’t like it when directors use popular jokes or cliches. E.g. Hirani used 3-4 jokes from email forwards in 3 idiots. Similarly this Khuda/Khudai joke here. It may make sense when I watch the film, can’t say much as it doesn’t show the full scene. But it should not be in the promos etc for sure.
Extremely disappointed with the scenes posted. Kya Anurag Sir, realistic cinema chod kar, kya yeh elitist cinema bana rahe ho. Itni wait karte hai aapki movie ki. Bilkul maza nahin aaya.
Was impressed by Prashant’s performance in Skeleton woman, but here, he is just too gimmicky for the medium.
And kind-of agree with Lee’s comments, its unfortunate but Kalki has no screen presence.

A young Anglo-Indian woman in Mumbai looks for her long-lost father while working as a masseuse in cult helmer Anurag Kashyap’s lurid and unattractive “That Girl in Yellow Boots.” Kashyap’s uneven talent for making hip indie pics outside Bollywood gloss (“Dev D,” “Gulaal”) is held up as a cutting-edge current in Indian cinema, but here he’s merely recycling low-end arthouse stylizations grafted onto a groaningly sensationalist script. Shot in 13 days (and it shows), “Yellow Boots” is made for ankling.
The plot could stem from a Mumbai version of “Law and Order: SVU”; Ruth (an undistinguished Kalki Koechlin, also co-scripting) works illegally in a sleazy massage parlor, offering to manually pleasure her clients, while her coke-head b.f. Prashant (Prashant Prakash) complains she’s frigid. She’s on the trail of the father who ran out years earlier after Ruth’s 15-year-old sis committed suicide, but her quest for a dad’s selfless love will lead to a ridiculously unsavory conclusion. The near-constant presence of the outside world on the soundtrack turns annoying rather than atmospheric, and lensing is awash in tiresomely grungy colors.
