The man behind one of the best debuts films in recent times Udaan, Vikramaditya Motwane is back with a new film titled Lootera starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. And as the latest trend in bollywood goes, the first look of the film is just a teaser and not the full trailer.

The teaser doesn’t tell you much about the film but just gives you a sense of the place and the mood of the film. But close your eyes and watch the teaser again – i think it’s the music. Old world charm, silent glances, character introductions and then those last 30 seconds where it kicks in – snow, gun, letters, light, fire and dhickiyoon, credits and the hero limping on snow! Now, give me the full trailer.

This completely stands out from the garbage that Bollywood is churning out these days. There’s so much silence, and most importantly, there’s NO FUCKING TEXT on screen to explain it. But this also seems to be from school of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Just hope that it’s less grand, less manipulative and more intimate.

The credit list seems to be the same as that of Udaan. DoP is Mahendra Shetty. Screenplay by Vikramaditya Motwane and Bhavani Iyer. Dialogues – Anurag Kashyap. Music – Amit Trivedi. Lyrics – Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Though the makers have been saying it publicly that it’s inspired/based on O Henry’s short The Last Leaf, why isn’t it mentioned in the credit plate?

Very weird plot comes to mind when you see the last few seconds of the teaser…am sure it is wrong but what the heck

Launda goes to a village…he is a thief….comes across a statue that is worth millions, tries to steal it…falls in love with sonakshi amma and hell breaks loose…throw in the sonakshi is sick and needs to see the last leaf green else she dies

Ok sorry but i couldnt resist

Cannot wait for music of this film. Trivedi! 🙂

trailor gives me george clooney’s “the american” feel

Lol…I’m actually watching The American now. Anyway, hasn’t the soundtrack been lifted from a hollywood movie? I’ve heard it before.

The description for the trailer on YouTube reads
“Lootera brings together for the first time, two of today’s finest young stars,Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha.” Fantasy toh yahi se shuru ho gaya.

  5. Nidhi says:

It was always going to be a well-made film, given the team behind it. Everything hinges on the screenplay and from the looks of it, Ranveer Singh. He wasn’t very convincing in the teaser IMO.

    Awesome .
    ranvir is looking stunning……

  7. Rohan Sharma says:

The trailer looks like poetry in motion. The only scary part is Anurag Kashyap as dialogue writer.
as his dialogues are too conversational. Although that isn’t a bad thing in general, the mood of the movie plus the gist of the movie(having read the short story) is too poetic to have regular conversational dialogues. Additionally, dialogue delivery doesnt seem to be Ranveer’s greatest strength.
Also, I hope that Vikrmaditya didnt commit the same mistakes as Anurag Basu did with barfi: Too many subplots.
Hoping to watch a movie with overdose of music, less plot and even less of dialogues.
PS: In Amit triivedi, we trust.
