Faces. Faces. Faces. Vertical. Horizontal. Just faces. Give me more faces.
Is this the brief for designing Prakash Jha’s film posters? Just have a look at the posters of his last four films – Satyagraha, Chakravyuh, Aarakshan and Raajneeti. What else do you see? Nothing.
Another interesting experiment – Try to see one poster and imagine the name of some other Prakash Jha film there. Would it make any difference? Naah.
So who is the culprit? Raise your hand please.
If you don’t put faces on the poster, then what else do you put? Objects?
Well, you put a design there. You put an idea, a concept. Not bland faces staring at you that says nothing. Google, you will be surprised. And yes, objects can do wonders to the faces. See – http://www.justjared.com/2012/11/19/ryan-gosling-battered-face-in-only-god-forgives-poster/
Thankfully, he hasn’t put the cars on the posters. Almost all opening shots of Rajneeti had cars screeching to a halt and people getting out.
But then, weren’t all the four the same film? 😀
Look at the bright side, Prakash Jha likes all his actors equally. Then media doesnt ask such questions to any celebrity – “why are you missing from the posters”?
If not poster you will complain about something else…this is more of whining club now!
Exactly !
“Prakash Jha credits his cast” rather I would say Prakash Jha credits himslef a substantial amount of money showcasing his cast…
Top quality seen in his Gangajal and Arakshan has been lost in his later versions..
jha is the new bhandarkar.
Dumb post ever !
