Those of you who are Indian Ocean fans, probably already know about it. Those who discovered Indian Ocean recently because of Aamir Khan & Peepli Live, well, welcome to the club. Here is the good news. Illegal is all legal now! Download Indian Ocean’s songs for free. Become a part of the change!

Click here to go the Indian Ocean’s official website and download their new song Chand. Its from their new album 16/3330 Khajoor Road. It has seven songs and one song will be given away free every month starting 25th July 2010.  And later on, the whole album as a physical CD will be released.

Wondering why ? Because the music companies act like goons. They keep all the money, the royalty and even every right, and the band never makes any money from the sale of CDs. Whatever they make, it all comes from their live performances. So, better to use the middle finger for the music goons and reach to the fans directly!

And here is some more info about the track Chand – from the official release…

The first song to be given away is titled ‘Chand’, which means ‘moon’ in Hindi. We made this song for an eponymous short film directed by Anurag Kashyap, which unfortunately never saw the light of day. It’s a beautiful, touching twelve minute film about a young boy called Chand, who resides in a remand home in Mumbai, but lives in a world of his own. Sanjeev Sharma has written the lyrics for this song.

BTW, we have seen Anurag Kashyap’s short film Pramod Bhai 23, which is part of Mumbai Cutting, a collage of 11 short films by some well known directors. Its a heartwarming tale of a juvenile delinquent who is obsessed with the underworld and bollywood, and even quotes Gulzar. The film is yet to see the light of the day though its been ready since quite a while. Till then, enjoy the sound of Chand!

Whats Your Raashee ?Because he seriously needs to check his daily horoscope reports. If the teaser, music and promos of Whats Your Raashee is any indication of things to come, we are running far far away from it. The song Jao na (dont go) sounds “please please run away” to us! Just check out the song promo. Its the first song promo that have been released.

What the fuck is this ? Who would release such a bad first song promo of the film ? Is it the same Ashutosh Gowariker who shot Yeh jo desh hai tera (Swadees), O re chori (Lagaan) and Khwaja mere khwaja (Jodhoa Akbar)! Unfuckingbelievable!  This is horrible. And it seems, its shot on chroma. You can easily make that out. Mumbai roads….late night…why would you go for chroma!

First Harman Baweja, then the fuckall teaser, then this song promo and now the music of Whats Your Raashee…..nothing seems to be going right. The album has 13 songs. I heard it thrice, none of the song stays with you. Zero repeat value. The arrangement make it sound like we are going back to Nadeem-Shravan days! I would even vote it for Javed Akhtar’s worst work.  Sample this….pyaar pyaari nayi nayi nyaari nyaari….aisi hai baatein teri saari….dil maine khoya jaan vari….kyunki pyaari pyaari…tukbandi was never so dull!

Music is by debutant Sohail Sen. Am all for new talent but yes, talent is the key word! Or was i searching for Rahman in the album ? Naah, am not going back to it again!

Monica BediWe are not joking. Those of you who follow us regularly, know it. But why would Universal Music go for Monica Bedi and make her sing punjabi prayers and do chanting? Of all the people, Monica Bedi ? What an idea sirjee!! Its a punjabi prayer album called Ek Onkaar.

We can understand Monica Bedi’s reasons for doing it. Desperate  times call for desperate measures. And an overweight purse is always good. It seems she went to a local gurudwara to train herself.

Monica Bedi oldBut from one extreme to other! We understand or atleast pretend to understand that she is also a human being and may be trying her best to forget her past. But we are not Ghajini’s Aamir Khan! Our memory is too sharp. We take time to forget things and more so if its all about skimpy clothes. We are just bastards (okay, we prefer Inglorious Bastards). Do let us know which Monica you prefer, old or the new ?
