Unnaipol OruvanIts 50 years of Kamal Hassan, on screen! And these days he insists on playing atleast 50 roles in each film of his. They even say, to call him megalomaniac is an understatement! In an interview, when Naseerduddin Shah was asked about his reaction to Kamal Hasaan playing his part in the tamil remake of A Wednesday, he said – why my part ? He should play all the parts! 😉

Jokes apart, this one looks sane. The trailer of the tamil remake of A Wednesday is out. The film is titled Unnaipol Oruvan and stars Kamal Hassan ( In Naseeruddin Shah’s role) and Mohan Lal ( Anupam Kher’s role). We feel its looking better than the hindi one and hopefully they have cut out the dhoom-dhaam-dhadap camera, sound and edit pattern in this one.

BTW, Kamal’s daughters are also involved with the film. Shruti Hassan has composed the music for the film and Akshara has choreographed a promotional video. And Kamal has sung two songs in the film!

quickgun muruganYenna Rascala, whats the score ? Seven films this friday! We say, phunk it. We are interested in only one, Shashanka Ghosh! Dont mind it!

The film stars Dr Rajendra Prasad in lead role alongwith Naseer and Rambha. Few early reviews are out.

Taran Adarsh (Indiafm) – On the whole, Quickgun Murugan is an innovative experience. The adventures should appeal to the youth mainly – 3/5

Anupama Chopra (NDTV) – Quick Gun Murugun isn’t the roller coaster ride it could have been but I still recommend you make time for it. Because it’s wacky, original and inventive – 2.5/5

Chandrima Pal (Rediff) – QMG is as delicious as Mrs Murugan’s dosas. As Rice Plate would have said, “A1, Tip Top! – 3.5/5

Khalid Mohamed (Aslibaat) – The film’s chief quality is that it is wildly different, madcap and keeps you in a bright mood. Now that’s saying helluva lot in these days of kambakts and kamineys – 3/5

Rajeev Masand (CNN IBN) – If all you’re looking for is a relaxed time at the movies, then believe me, this is Good Fun Murugun – 3/5

Avijit Ghosh (TOI) – You cannot blame director Shashanka Ghosh and writer Rajesh Devraj for not trying something different. They are bang on with the movie’s looks. Too bad, the team fails to create its soul – 2.5/5

Shubhra Gupta (Indian Express) – We like. The rest doesn’t really make our day, `machaa’ – 3/5

Minty Tejpal (Mumbai Mirror) – I hear there’s talk of a sequel in the offing. Well, knowing Shashanka and Devi all too well, if the two talented but stubborn eccentrics do manage to collaborate again, it should be well worth it. Take that I say, Austin Powers – 3/5

Baradwaj Rangan ( New Indian Express) – A kitschy spoof of Tamil Westerns has big laughs and one small problem: even at an hour-and-a-half, it overstays its welcome.

Sanjukta Sharma (Livemint) – You either get Quick Gun or you don’t. But just watch the film for the experiment it is. There aren’t so many out there.

Kaveree Bamzai (India Today) – I would rather watch a Rajnikant movie in Tamil with no subtitles for entertainment – 1/5

Gaurav Malani (Indiatimes)The 2-minute parody of Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om (from where the character of Quick Gun Murugun was derived) is much more entertaining than this entire excuse for a movie. So much of noise on the pretext of parody! We do mind it  – 1.5/5

Except few reviews, it seems the score is between 2.5/3 for QGM!

The theatrical trailer of Salman Khan-Ayesha Takia starrer Wanted is out. The film has been directed by Prabhu Deva and its a hindi remake of the southie hit Pokkiri. Produced by Boney Kapoor.

Lessons we learnt….some quickies….

1. Salman Khan is still trying to act.

2. Boney Kapoor is still remaking southern spices. Is Sridevi the real inspiration ?

3. Has Satish Kaushik passed the baton to Prabhu Deva ?

4. Sahara One Motion Pictures is still in business!

5. Strictly NOT WANTED!

This one looks like Salman Khan’s Ghajini!

MohanlalFor all you fans of Mohanlal, here is some good news.  He was commissioned  into the army today as honorary Lt Colonel. He joins the Territorial Army, the part-time citizen’s work force which works with the regular army.

Mohanlal will serve the 122 Infantry Battalion  of Madras Regiment in  Kannur.  According to news reports, some rules were also amended to accomodate the 49 year old actor as men above the age of 42 are not allowed to join the volunteer force.

Kamal HaasanThats what the news reports suggests. It was suppose to be a big budget film starring Kamal Haasan & Asin. Walt Disney was producing it and to be directed by Bharatbala.

Problem ? Kamal Haasan. It seems he wanted changes in the script and backed out when the changes weren’t made. Our guess – He must have asked Bharatbala to cast him in all the possible 19 roles in the same film! Thats what he has been doing these days.

Current status – Most probably Asin will also back out of the film as she decided to do it because of Kamal Haasan. The makers are now talking to Vikram for the same part. Music is by A R Rahman. And here’s the synopsis, according to wikipedia…

The story of this film revolves around a Japanese samurai warrior (Tadanobu Asano) who travels to Kerala to learn the secrets of the ancient Dravidian martial art of Kalaripayattu from a veteran martial art trainer (Kamal Haasan). In the process he falls in love with a beautiful Chera princess (Asin Thottumkal). Whether he learns the martial art and whether he wins his love or not, forms the core of the story.

Here are some new pics of Aishwarya Rai, from her upcoming film Robot. She stars with Rajnikanth in the film.

Do check out the link after the text, has a hilarious audio clip from Rajeev Masand’s review show Now Showing, where he is talking to Aishwarya Rai on the phone. Its a must watch! And there is a quiz too. Since we could not post the video here, click on the link.

prabhu devaAccording to our sources, he is not hiding at all. Because Prabhu Deva is in Mumbai for the publicity and promotion of his film new Wanted : Dead or Alive. Its directed by Prabhu Deva. He even did few interviews for the film which stars Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia in the lead. Wanted is a remake of Telugu film Pokkiri. Its produced by Boney Kapoor.

The rumour doing the round is that Prabhu Deva has secretly married actress Nayantara. Though actress Nayantara has denied the rumours about the marriage but there has been no comment from Prabhu Deva. It all started with Nayantara getting Prabhudeva’s name tattoed on her body.
