Nagesh-who-went-cuckoo with his last few films, is ready with a new film titled Mod. Starring Ayesha Takia and Rannvijay Singh in the lead, Mod is an official remake of the Taiwanese film Keeping Watch. Check out the trailer…

But why is the text font and the background so tacky? Looks like some intern made it on MS word and paint. And Ayesh Takia, can you please come back to movies. Such a natural actor with a pleasing screen presence.

Here’s the official synopsis…

Mod is a heartfelt, emotional love story between two completely mismatched people.

Aranya, a “full-of-life” 25 yr old, lives in the sleepy and idyllic hill station, Ganga. The little town is the home of many colourful characters – Ashok Mahadeo, Aranya’s whacky father who is the head of the local fan club of Kishore Kumar, the fiery Gayatri Garg, “GG”, her aunt, friend, and confidant, who runs a …restaurant and is a mother figure to Aranya, chubby Gangaram, the local shopkeeper who harbors feelings for Aranya and Ashok’s music band, the ever present Kishore Bhakts.

Aranya’s mother left to pursue bigger dreams in the city when Aranya was a little girl and both father and daughter hope that one day she will return. They wait dutifully everyday to see if the lone train that passes by their house will bring her back. Aranya runs a watch repair store, a legacy handed down by her mother to support her father and herself.

One day a total stranger, Andy, lands up at her doorstep to have his watch fixed. He is painfully shy, but keeps returning day after day to have his water logged watch repaired. As payment he leaves a 100 rupee note in the form of an origami swan. Aranya slowly warms up to this quirky stranger and through a series of meetings and against all odds they fall in love.

But who is Andy? Where is he from? And what is his past?

As Aranya discovers the truth about Andy, the film heads to an exciting and emotional climax in the strongest tradition of great love stories.

When love happens, life takes a turn…

Dil Bole HadippaTwo big releases this friday. Though neither my Dil Bole Hadippa nor my dimaag WANTs anything. Few early reviews are out. Check out!

Dil Bole Hadippa is directed by debutant Anurag Singh, produced by Yashraj Films and stars Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor.

Anupama Chopra (NDTV)Dil Bole… is worth seeing for the sweetness and charm that Rani and Shahid conjure up. Catch it if you have nothing else going on this weekend – 2.5/5

Sukanya Verma (Rediff) – If you can discount some of the Veer-Zaara inspired cheesiness to follow along with terrible exercises of humour – namely broken Hinglish exchanges (You Kaala bhainslo, yadda yadda) and gems like, ‘Yeh Indian dil hai. Cello tape se nahi Judta and a reaa-llll-yy long climax, your ‘Dil’ might just find enough strength to mutter ‘Hadippa’. Ha, like that’s ever going to happen – 2.5/5

Anand Vaishnav (Buzz18) – It’s a long weekend ahead. And Dil Bole Hadippa is just the kind of movie you will enjoy with your family. This one is an easy watch – 2.5/5

Gaurav Malani (Indiatimes) Dil Bole Hadippa comes as another feel ‘good’ film from the Yash Raj banner but off late audiences have upgraded to ‘better’ narratives – 2.5/5

Taran Adarsh (Indiafm) – On the whole, DIL BOLE HADIPPA is an ordinary fare. At the box-office, the film has some chances in North mainly thanks to the Punjabi flavour. The holidays ahead may help its prospects at plexes essentially, but the single screens will be dull – 2/5

Rajeev Masand (CNN IBN) – it’s a crushing bore of a film that’s neither thrilling in its cricket scenes, nor entertaining in its humour. What’s it going to take to expect some originality and inventiveness from one of the biggest players in Bollywood? To be honest, dil bole sudharjaa! – 1.5/5

Minty Tejpal (Mumbai Mirror) – For Rani fans, it’s a must watch, the rest can go see Wanted instead – 2/5

Kaveree Bamzai (India Today) – What do you say to a movie which is a cross between Veer Zaara and Chak De! India? With large dollops of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge thrown in? YRF has developed a niche niche now-Punjabi films about sports and involving Pakistan -2/5

Khalid Mohamed (Aslibaat) – Next time around, you do wish the Chopras would show more of Punjab than its mustard fields, dupatta-cholis, trucks and tractors. Till then, this cricket balle balle makes for a fairly engrossing matinee – 3/5

Mayank Shekhar (Hindustan Times) – As an idea, this remains still a full-on film festival designed around the female lead. She is decent. She usually is. But, what is this film? – 1/5

WantedWANTED is directed by Prabhu Deva and stars Salman Khan, Ayesha Takia and Prakash Raj.

Taran Adarsh (Indiafm) – On the whole, WANTED rides on Salman, Salman and only Salman Khan’s star power. A masala film that’s aimed at the masses, WANTED is backed by tremendous hype and hoopla, which will result in the film taking an earth-shattering start at the ticket window – 4/5

Anupama Chopra (NDTV) – Yes, there is plenty here for action buffs, including a ripped, shirtless Salman going on a killing spree in the climax. The rest of us should just steer clear – 1.5/5

Raja Sen (Rediff) – Khan might be having fun, but the fact a film like Wanted underscores is how badly Bollywood needs a breed of younger leading men. And how the existing lot need roles that fit – 2/5

Rajeev Masand (CNN IBN) – For die-hard fans of the star who don’t have a problem with extreme violence and juvenile comedy, this might be a treat. For others though, it’s strictly average entertainment. Carry cotton for your ears and a Crocin for the headache – 2/5

Minty Tejpal (Mumbai Mirror) – In a nation where crooks sit in Parliament and mammoth corruption scandals are made to disappear conveniently, Salman Khan is the real poster bad boy, an Indian icon far truer than most other created ‘brands’ around. So let us celebrate the self-man, instead of constantly denigrating him – 4/5

Kaveree Bamzai (India Today) – The question why occurs to you several times during the movie. Why was it remade in Hindi? Why did Salman work so hard for a film that was so obviously coming after Ghajini had been there and done that? And why did Boney Kapoor spend so much money on making this? – 1/5

Khalid Mohamed (Aslibaat) – Sure, Salman Khan strives to be uber cool;  it’s only because of his star presence that you watch this potty pourri. Otherwise, for most of those seeking three hours of a chill-out at the multiplex, Wanted is about as desirable as bullets-‘n’-guns in your boudoir – 2/5

Mayank Shekhar (Hindustan Times) – The hinterlands will be happy. But what’s the story? Well. That’s what producer Kapoor paid up Rs 12 crore in copyrights for, by the way. Such s**t, better be hit! – 1.5/5

Jaya Biswas (Buzz18) – An out-and-out entertainer, Salman is sure to enthrall you not only with his action but his brilliant dance steps – 3/5

Gaurav Malani (Indiatimes) – There are times when you care a damn for nutrition and want to indulge in some lip-smacking junk food. Wanted is just that recipe. Never mind some extra calories! Try watching it in a single screen – the cheese melts faster there – 3/5

So, its 2.5 for Dil Bole Hadippa and Wanted has scored on both the extremes!

We are sure, have missed many others. Do let us know.

The theatrical trailer of Salman Khan-Ayesha Takia starrer Wanted is out. The film has been directed by Prabhu Deva and its a hindi remake of the southie hit Pokkiri. Produced by Boney Kapoor.

Lessons we learnt….some quickies….

1. Salman Khan is still trying to act.

2. Boney Kapoor is still remaking southern spices. Is Sridevi the real inspiration ?

3. Has Satish Kaushik passed the baton to Prabhu Deva ?

4. Sahara One Motion Pictures is still in business!

5. Strictly NOT WANTED!

This one looks like Salman Khan’s Ghajini!

TGIF! Too much of news flow today. Some bolly quickies!

1. After almost two decades, Nana Patekar will soon return to direction to direct his son Malhar. The film will be produced by Prakash Jha.

2. Bit late but better to keep track. Agyaat is in High Court! Writer Sajit Warrier filed a complaint with Film Writers Association that Agyaat is his script. He was writing it for Ramu long back. And after few years, he suddenly got to know that the film is ready. FWA told Ramu to pay him 9 Lakhs. Ramu has moved to High Court. A unit member from Agyaat confirmed the fact that Sajit was writing for Ramu, not sure if its the same script. Will put a detail post soon.

3. Irfan Khan walks out of Sanjay Gupta’s Alibaug. First it was Sanjay Dutt and now Irfan Khan. Problem ? Payment issues. Thats Guptaji’s old habit. Irfan doesnt want to work with Guptaji till his Acid Factory (P – Gupta, D – Suparn Varma) payment is cleared. Or is this some PR at work for Acid Factory  ?

4. Saif Ali is putting 28 ACs in his new home at Bandra. WTF ! And for what ? To have ice cubes and snow flakes in the potty! He has also taken up the terrace of the building and is turning it into a gym with all the facilities. May be its for the gym!

5. Heard of a film called Kissan ? No ? Its obvious. Has Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Jackie Shroff in the lead. Manoj Kumar has given permission to the makers of the film to use the song mere desh ki dharti in Kisaan.

6. Yashraj Films has denied the news that they have signed Salman Khan for an upcoming film.

7.  Delhi Belly is social comedy and NOT sex comedy. NO desi American Pie – Abhinay Deo ( director of Delhi Belly. P – Aamir Khan)

8. Post Dev D, music composer Amit Trivedi’s hands and pockets are full with offers. He is doing Udaan ( D – Vikramaditya Motwane. P – Anurag Kashyap), Chillar Party ( P – UTV. D -Vikas Bahl’s debut), Film City ( P- UTV. D -Deven Khote’s debut ). Also the background score of Wake Up Sid (P – Karan Johar. D – Ayaan Mukherjee) and some more!

9. Shah Rukh Khan is in London, with his family for holidays. Karan Johar is also there. And he is busy shopping with Ritesh Deshmukh! Hmmmm. Looks like Ritesh will finally get a role in Dostana 2.

10. Ayesha Takia’s sister Natasha Takia is all set for her bollywood debut soon.  And Mukul Deora ( Politician Milind Deora’s brother)  is getting into film production. Is Bhabiji Pooja Shetty behind the filmy inspiration ?

PS. D is for Director and P is Producer.

Ayesha TakiaShe is the new one to join the Twitter club. We have checked, confirmed it and yes, its the real Ayesha Takia. No fake profile.

Her Twitter address is twitter.com/ayeshatakia. And we discovered that we have something in common with Ayesha. She also loves Californication!

After her marraige, she has cut down her acting assignments drastically and is doing only few films. Arrrrghhh, we miss her! We always thought that she is one actress who had all the potential, but, well she had her heart somewhere.  With someone called Farhan Azmi.

All you Takia fans, now stay connected!

prabhu devaAccording to our sources, he is not hiding at all. Because Prabhu Deva is in Mumbai for the publicity and promotion of his film new Wanted : Dead or Alive. Its directed by Prabhu Deva. He even did few interviews for the film which stars Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia in the lead. Wanted is a remake of Telugu film Pokkiri. Its produced by Boney Kapoor.

The rumour doing the round is that Prabhu Deva has secretly married actress Nayantara. Though actress Nayantara has denied the rumours about the marriage but there has been no comment from Prabhu Deva. It all started with Nayantara getting Prabhudeva’s name tattoed on her body.
