Today’s edition of Mumbai Mirror has a quote from our post “Check your CQ – Bhansali’s Guzaarish“. Actually the full article is on our post.

You can read the full post here. Its on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new film Guzaarish. The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai and newcomer Aditya Bal. And the Mumbai Mirror article is here (see pic).

Here is the most interesting part. To quote from the article…

However, a source close to Bhansali said, “Why are people in so much of a hurry? These things can really upset a director. Guzaarish has got nothing to do with any of these three films and Sanjay is very upset with the constant spotlight on the film. It is just a silly prank as no one has the soft copy of the script, so it’s not possible.”

Seriously, WTF is that ???!!! We are ROFL! Is that the new “size zero”  ? Or how about “Honey, i shrunk them” as other option for the title of the film ?

Yashraj Films, the banner once known for making their heroines every man’s dream woman has now gone the other extreme! And how! yeh kahaan aa gaye hain hum..

Starring Uday Chopra and Priyanka Chopra, its a romantic comedy and is positioned as “ 1 beauty + 1 geek = PI ( Pyaar Impossible)”. Back to men from mars and women from venus concept! Uday plays Abhay, a geeky guy and Priyanka plays Alisha. The film is directed by Jugal Hansraj and will have music by Salim-Suleiman.

Hrithik wants aliens in Krrish2

KrrishAfter Koi Mil Gaya, he wants them back! But not as the friendly Jadoo this time. He wants them to be big menace, powerful villains. The superhero played by Hrithik Roshan will get to beat them and save the world.

Also, the threat will be much bigger in the third part of the series. Tentatively titled Krrish2, the story will move beyond the family issue or anything to do with india. Post-Kites, Hrithik wants to go international, and on the lines of Hollywood superheroes, the aliens will be on the mission to destro the world. 

But there is a problem! According to gossipmongers, the writers developing the script of Krrish2 are not too excited with Hrithik’s idea of aliens. They feel alien villains will be too alien for desi junta. The script is still in development and has not been locked yet.

Papa Roshan also wants a fresh pair in the film. Ofcourse beta Roshan cant be replaced and so he is thinking about a new actress opposite him. Among the many other names, Deepika Padukone is a strong contender for the role. Once Kites is released, Rakesh Roshan will focus all his attention on Krrish2.

Mid-day has published the plot details of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next Guzaarish. It stars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. Here is more about the story of the film from the report.

The film bears similarities to John Badham’s Whose Life Is It Anyway? and will see Hrithik in a wheelchair for most of the scenes.

Hrithik plays Ethan, a radio show host. Aishwarya plays a married nurse who is also Hrithik’s caregiver. The film also deals with the controversial subject of mercy killing/euthanasia. Ash’s character is interesting because she plays a married woman who gets attracted to Hrithik as the second half progresses. The film has dark tones throughout.

Paraplegia is an impairment in motor and/or sensory function of the lower extremities. It is usually the result of spinal cord injury or a congenital condition such as spina bifida.

And according to our sources Hrithik plays a magician whose trick geoes wrong during one of the performances and thats how he becomes paraplegic. Looks like Bhansali is In the mood for “Black” again!

Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender – pics and plot

Paramount Pictures has released the first pic of M Night Shyamalan’s new film The Last Airbender. airbender2

Based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series, the film is set in a world where human civilization is divided into four nations: Water, Earth, Air and Fire.

The Fire Nation is waging a ruthless, oppressive war against the other three nations. The film’s hero, the reluctant young Aang, is the “Last Airbender” — the Avatar who, according to prophecy, has the ability to manipulate all of the elements and bring all the nations together.

Dev Patel plays the main villain Prince Zuko, Prince of the Fire Nation, a firebender (see the next post for Dev Patel’s look in the film) who can manipulate flames.  The Last Airbender is set to hit theaters on July 2nd 2010.

Raavan – Santosh Sivan replaces Manikandan

santosh sivanYes, the news is indeed true. Cinematographer Santosh Sivan is back with Mani Ratnam. Earlier Manikandan was shooting Ratnam’s film Raavan, which is almost 60 percent complete. But because of Ratnam’s heart attack, the film’s schedule went haywire. And Manikandan had committed his dates for Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan’s new film.

Without any options, Ratnam called up his old favourite Santosh Sivan. According to gossipmongers, there is more to this story. It wasnt all well between Ratnam and Manikandan. Because of professional reasons ofcourse. And it was good excuse to part aways.

Mumbaimirror has got more specific details about the film’s plot…

Raavan is a modern-day Ramayana, in which an encounter specialist shifts to a small town in northern India after his marriage to a classical dancer Raagini (Aishwarya Rai). The town is run by a tribal goon Beera (played by hubby Abhishek Bachchan). Beera who to avenge the inspector, kidnaps Raagini and  eventually falls for her. So what would Raagini do ? Go back or staywith her kidnapper ?

We had no clue about this film till we saw the poster. Paresh Rawal, Om Puri and Pawan Malhotra on the poster, in lead roles. Wow. It rarely happens that such actors get any space on the poster of a film. We were sold, googled and here is more on the film.

Directed by Amit Rai ( any clue ?), here is the synopsis of the film…

Husmatullah (Paresh Rawal) is a mechanic and has a workshop in one of prominent muslim locality of Allahabad . He also is an office bearer of local mosque committee and is popular between peers and friends though not on good terms with the President of the committee Nawab Kasuri (Om Puri), a hardliner with a bitter history.

An old vintage engine comes to his workshop for repair which not only has a very significant national value but also is related to a very important event in the history.

As he sets to get it started, things around him take a different turn.

After a blast in the city, the local police does some arrest which is opposed by the community leaders and the local mosque committee. In the ensuing protest a young innocent boy is killed leading to a call of boycott from the mosque.

Hasmat joins the boycott only to realize the importance of the work at hand. As knowledge of the engine and its significance grows, Hasmatullah is drawn more and more towards a crossroad. As time and events grow around him, he finds himself standing on a rift with two sides parting further away with every passing moment. He has to take his call which will not only rekindle his philosophy but also will lead his community to a process of realization of higher motives and higher responsibilities.

 It all about that old ford engine which once carried the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi….on the road to sangam. Mahatma is back! We are in.
