But it also managed to get the best desi films in recent years – with Court winning the International Competition, and Chauranga and Killa making mark in Indian categories. The International Competitive section for debut features always attract good films because of the big prize money it has.

So if you made a film, what are you waiting for. Mumbai Film Festival is waiting for it.

MAMI also recently unveiled its new logo – a dash of red all over. And the best part is it has got Reliance Jio as title sponsor for the next 5 years. Great! One big hurdle cleared. Now get us the best films!

New Board

The festival has a new board in place now. Film critic and author Anupama Chopra is the new Festival Director and filmmaker Kiran Rao is the new chairperson. Karan Johar, Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Ajay Bijli, Manish Mundra are on board too and were present during the unveiling of the new logo. Anurag Kashyap, Farhan Akhtar, Vikramaditya Motwane, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone and Anand Mahindra are also associated with the fest.

MAMI

The fest will run from 29th October to 5th November this year.

We never expect Filmfare to recognise the real talent beyond the stars and the celebs. Because they are star-fuckers who sell stars, want to keep everyone happy and want them to show up at their annual award ceremony. Its a tv show after all. Needs trps, needs money! Its all about how Film-Un-fair they are. But this year it seems lil better than last few years. Here is the list of winners…

BTW, Bachchans didnt attend the Filmfare Award this year in protest against this story done by their sister publication Mumbai Mirror few days back. They have been demanding apology from Mirror. But so far, nothing.

PS – Here is goss of the day. It seems Riteish Deshmukh & Jacqueline Fernandez’s act was sponsored by the producer of their forthcoming film Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai. Remember last year Vashu Bhagnani paid a fat cheque to Filmfare for getting his son Jackie Bhagnani on stage for the promotion of his debut film. He happily informed all his family members, relatives and friends asking them to watch his son dance at the Filmfare Awards ceremony. Remote was kept aside and they waited and waited and waited for Jackie to show up on small screen. Surprise! There was no Jackie act when it was telecasted on Sony Tv. Why ? Because Filmfare never guaranteed them that the act will get tv play too. It was edited out. Aur bolo ?

As if one Shah Rukh Khan wasnt enough, now we have a doggie version too! Awwwww…wwwwful! Or is this the Aamir’s doggie who was named after King Khan ? Koochi Koochie Hota Hai is the animated (read doggie) version of Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota hai.

Its directed by Tarun Mansukhani and has voiceovers by Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Simi Agarwal, Anupam Kher, Uday Chopra and Sajid Khan. Guess who is not here ? Salman Khan. Missing In Action. And you dont need to be genius to guess the reason.

And whoever thought about the “Koochie Koochie” title, needs to get into doggie avatar soon. Woof teri ada, woof tera badan, woof woof tera ya title! The trailer looks, sounds and feels terrible! And more so, because in a year when UP makes it to the Oscar nomination in the Best Film category, we are still rewinding back to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Spare us. We are not buying the tickets! Feels like its made for Under-5 category! Take a look.
