It’s been raining trailers and how! We are adding two new interesting trailers to the list. First one is Ang Lee’s Life Of Pi. Based on the book of the same name by Yann Martel. It has Irrfan Khan (Older Pi), Tabu (Pi’s mother), debutant Suraj Sharma (Piscine Molitor ‘Pi’ Patel) and Adil Hussain (Pi’s father) in lead roles. Here’s the trailer which released today.

What’s wrong with the first 1min? Looks fake and poorly done. Rest of it looks magical. And Royal Bengal Tiger Mister Parker looks scary and delicious. There was a great buzz for its 3D at Cinema Con. We are waiting and how. In Ang Lee, we trust.

– To quote from the official release, here’s the synopsis….

“Born in the hour of India’s freedom. Handcuffed to history.”

Midnight’s Children is an epic film from Oscar-nominated director Deepa Mehta, based on the Booker Prize winning novel by Salman Rushdie. At the stroke of midnight on August 15, 1947, as India proclaims independence from Great Britain, two newborn babies are switched by a nurse in a Bombay hospital. Saleem Sinai, the illegitimate son of a poor woman, and Shiva, the offspring of a wealthy couple, are fated to live the destiny meant for each other. Their lives become mysteriously intertwined and are inextricably linked to India’s whirlwind journey of triumphs and disasters.

From the unlikely romance of Saleem’s grandparents to the birth of his own son, Midnight’s Children is a journey at once sweeping in scope and yet intimate in tone. Hopeful, comic and magical – the film conjures images and characters as rich and unforgettable as India herself.

If you haven’t seen Kamal Swaroop’s cult classic Om dar badar, you still haven’t seen the best of Indian cinema. And if you are friends with him on FB, his wall is like a pandora’s box for visual art.

Tehelka Tv has been doing an interesting series called “Cinema & Me” where they talk to filmmakers of life, cinema and philosophy. The new video features Kamal Swaroop. Must Watch.

Jameson Empire had announced a contest for shorts – remake any cult film in just 1 minute. It’s called DISS (Done In Sixty Seconds) and Anurag Kashyap was on the jury.  They have just announced the two films which will compete with films from across the world at the the Jameson Empire Award in London.

The two winners are Mayank Shethiya’s Fight Club and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind by the team of Zain Matcheswalla, Vidyut Singh Jaiswal, Arati Kadav and Zenish Mehta. Click on the play button and have a look.

There was Ashutosh Gowariker’s dud Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, and now there’s Chhitagong by Bedabrata Pain. Both the films are based on the same incident. Written by Bedabrata Pain & Shonali Bose, it  stars Manoj Bajpayee, Raj Kumar Yadav, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Barry John and Dibyendu Bhattacharya.

Here’s the first look. It doesn’t look like official trailer though. Too long to be a trailer, must be showreel for distributors or something like that.

And here’s the official synopsis…

Set against the backdrop of a little known saga in 1930s British-occupied India – where a group of schoolboys and young women, led by a schoolteacher, Masterda Surya Sen (Manoj Bajpai) dared to take on the Empire – CHITTAGONG is the story of a diffident 14 year old boy, Jhunku (Delzad Hiwale). Swept up into this seemingly impossible mission, the reluctant teenager battles with his own self-doubts to achieve an improbable triumph.

The film is a riveting action-drama, made more so by the fact that it is true.

In which Aarakshan gets a fultoo popcorn treatment…check it out…

The film is directed by Prakash Jha and stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Manoj Bajpayee and Prateik.

It’s raining trailers and how! The two new theatrical trailers are of Ajay Devgn’s Singham and UTV’s Chillar Party which is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and Vikas Behl. Salman Khan has come on-board as the co-producer of the film with his new banner Salman Khan Being Human (SKBH) Productions. Check it out.

(PS : Was Singham shot on the sets of Golmaal ?)

Aha, the self-referencing parade just doesn’t end. Check out the video. The film is directed by Puri Jagannath and stars Amitabh Bachchan.

Yes, the video that we all have been waiting for, is finally out. And guess who has got the song ? Irrfan Khan. Again? First, Bekaran and now Tere Liye. Or may be the promos are misleading.

Yeh nahi suna toh kya suna! Click on the play button and go ROFLOL!

And if you want more, here it is….as always, our favourite bits in BOLD….

Poochte hain log, hamesha ye sawaal,

Kahan tha? Kahan kho gaya, tu itne saal?

Kuch aise haadse hue, ghira apne ghutno par,

Bebasee, laacharee, sharm se jhuk gaya sar,

Bikhri meri duniya, mere khwab, mera ghar,

Jab chhod jaaye apne, toh lagta hai darr.

My life, my career, all went for a toss,

Bad decisions, bad luck put me through such loss,

One after another, life shot me with a dart,

Like a broken arrow, I was falling apart.

CHORUS

Poochte hain log, hamesha ye sawaal,

Kahan tha? Kahan kho gaya, tu itne saal?

Main batata hoon, apni kahani, apni zubaani…

Something or another kept falling out of place,

A leaked MMS and disgrace, slapped on my face.

No I didn’t do it,

but I paid the price for it,

Broken ties, faith and trust, made me feel like shit.

Family relationships turned bitter overnight,

I swear I tried to save it, with all my might.

Flop filmein, rukawatein, baitha tha bekaar,

Na kaam, na cash, na kismat mere yaar.

CHORUS

Poochte hain log, hamesha ye sawaal,

Kahan tha? Kahan kho gaya, tu itne saal?

Life ki game kay patte bunt chuke the,

Toh kya kiya maine?

Drugs? Alcohol? Violence? No way!

I’m stronger than that, all I did was pray.

Turned to spirituality, yoga, meditation,

My limits started going beyond imagination,

Meri body, mera temple, bani meri dedication,

Started redefining this God’s own creation.

Mushkilon ko gale lagaya, mehnat ko apna banaya,

Ek baar phir maine, khud ko apnon ke sang paya.

Chorus

Poochte hain log, hamesha ye sawaal,

Kahan tha? Kahan kho gaya, tu itne saal?

To all those questions here’s my answer,

Hell I’m back, faster and smarter.

I’m focused, I’m stronger, I’m ready to dare,

I’m hungry for the love of all those who care.

For once I wanna set the record straight,

I’m back and I’m gonna make this worth your wait.

Giroonga, uthoonga, phir giroonga, phir uthoonga,

Par kisi bhi dam par, haar nahin maanoonga,

Haar uski, jo khudh haar maan le,

Jeet uski, jo girkar phir sambhal le.

Lyrics penned by Anubhav, Ashmit and Sonny Ravan. Ok, whoever they are!
