As the promotional campaign and the title of the film suggests, the official synopsis of the film says the same too. If you are still interested, here it is…

‘I hate luv storys’ is the maxim Jay lives by. But as an assistant director to Veer, the most famous romantic filmmaker of Indian Film Industry, Jay has little option but to live with larger than life, glossy, cinematic love on an everyday basis. Things only get worse when he is made to work under the new production designer on the film… Simran, with whom he shares the strangest first encounter!

Simran loves luv storys; So much so that even her life has begun to resemble one. With her ideal job and the perfect boyfriend, Raj, she lives a blissful, dreamy life; One that is rudely interrupted by Jay’s cynicism.

The turmoil’s of Jay and Simran’s life, is ironically interweaved with the Luv Story that they are working on…. But will Jay and Simran ever find their own Luv Story – go find it out in a theatre near you on 2nd July.

So, Raj & Simran have become Jai & Simran! Aur bolo! Though we still feel that “Hate” is the key word in our dictionary as far as this film is concerned, but have to admit that it got a supercool official website. Beats everything else that we have seen in recent times. Click here to check it out.

Music is by Vishal-Shekhar and Lyrics by Anvita Dutt, Kumaar & Vishal Dadlani. And here is the first song promo of the film…

And if you missed it earlier, the first trailer of the film….

The first trailer of Mahesh Manjrekar’s new film City Of Gold is out. Check it out.

This one had lot of promise, till we saw the trailer. The premise, setting, time, incidents and an untold story. But from the trailer it looks too tacky! City Of Gold is set in Mumbai’s mills era. Here is the official synopsis of the film…

Today, there is hardly anyone who hasn’t visited the swanky shopping malls, nightclubs, lounge bars, clubs and other such lifestyle destinations that sprung up across the centre of Mumbai. However, very few know that buried deep below these glittering edifices to consumerism lies the dark, dirty and painful reality of many thousands of mill workers who once worked the cotton mills in this very same area. Rising and toiling to the wail of the mill sirens each and every day, seven days a week, these workers embodied the true unbridled zeal and unflagging spirit of the city and played a pivotal role in the evolution of Mumbai as the modern day business capital of India.

And then it suddenly was as if they never existed. Following the mill workers strike in the mid-80s, these mills began closing down rapidly and the mill-workers mysteriously disappeared. What happened to them, and where they went is one of the most shameful secrets that the city of Mumbai will have to bear for generations, one that until now has always been spoken about in hushed whispers.

City of Gold – the story of these long-forgotten masses – not only explores the apathy of these mill workers narrated through the story of one such family, but is also a take-no-prisoners account of the birth of the true underbelly of organized crime in Mumbai.

The film traces the birth of the politics of greed in Mumbai and exposes the unholy collusion between the triumvirate of big business, the political establishment and the trade union leaders who ostensibly were charged with protecting the rights of the mill workers. In the two decades that followed, the entire landscape of Central Mumbai was changed forever. Land became the currency of growth, and this began the systematic extinction of mills in Mumbai. In a matter of just a few years, hundreds of thousands of workers lost their means of livelihood. Having worked in these mills from generation to generation, this was the only vocation that they knew.

Many left Mumbai and went back to their ancestral homes, some others chose to stay back and fight what they soon realised was a losing battle, some took the extreme step of ending their miserable lives, and still some others took to a world of crime.

Truth… as is said, is stranger than fiction. But the truth that the film uncovers is not just stranger but darker and dirtier than any mind has ever imagined. Produced by DAR Motion Pictures and from the Director of dark and realistic films like Vaastav – Mr Mahesh Manjrekar, ‘City of Gold’ takes another trip down memory lane…. just that this time around the result is a much more heart wrenching, soul stirring and shocking film about human avarice and apathy.

The film doesn’t provide any direct solutions. Yet it shatters many a myth and raises many a question which only the passage of time will provide answers to.

Paa

Btw, click here for the official website address of the film. So far not much there but just a bit of Ilaiyaraaja’s music.

And if you are too curious to remove the carton from the pic and see how Bachchan looks as a 13 year old in 39 years body, click here.

In the film Paa, Amitabh Bachchan (Auro) suffers from a disease called Progeria, a rare genetic disorder in which a person ages three times faster than a normal person. Its a family drama in which Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan are parents to Amitabh Bachchan, their 13 year old son who looks 39, and its all about how they try to deal with it. The look has been designed after much research and the make up used to take almost 4-5 hours everyday.

Strangely, the basic premise of Paa sounds similar to Francis Ford Coppola’s film Jack starring Robin Williams. To quote from IMDB….

JackThe movie is about a boy with a unique aging disorder: one that makes him age 4 times faster than normal. Movie picks up when Jack (Robin Williams) is 10 years old, but looks 40. He tries to go to public school for the first time, and tries to become friends with kids his own age. His physical appearance causes him lots of problems, however.

So, is Paa really Jack ? Inspiration, plagiarism or just coincidence ? Few more days and we will have the answer.

kangana blog cut

If there is something called Bollywood Bravery Award, hand it to Kangna Ranaut this year. Because not many actors in bollywood would dare to do so. And its more gutsy if its coming from someone like Kangna, who is single, working and without a godfather in the big bad bollywood! We love her! It might be good publicity for her official website/blog www.kangnaranaut.com , but its still a brave step. Here is the direct link to the blogpost.

Compare it to Amitabh Bachchan’s blog, whose non stop ramblings appear almost everyday. But he has no confessions to make. Just political correctness. Nothing personal to share. Its all oooh-i-love-my-EF’s…extended family… on and on. Whats the point of having a blog if you cant open up and write honestly.  And knowing his track record, we can bet that he will never write on any controversial issue of his life.

The news of Kangna Ranaut’s split with her boyfreind Adhyayan Suman is already out. But to make it official on the blog, it hasnt happened before. We are loving it! Now thats what you call Bold & Beautiful!

For Kangna Ranaut fans, here is a good news and a bad one.

kangna website cutFirst the good news. Kangna’s oficial website is finally up and running. The address is www.realkangnaranaut.com/. Kangna has started her blog also and plans to interact with her fans directly through the blog.

Now the bad news : Kangna Ranaut has split from her boyfriend Adhyayan Suman. The reasons, too many. The young actors want to focus on their respective careers. Adhyayan’s closeness to Shahana Goswami. Adhyayan’s dad Shekhar Suman never approved of Kangna. And both of them are not getting enough time for each other. So they met, discussed and parted ways. Old is out, young is over, what’s next Kangna ?

aage se right cut

If its about the big idea, then UTV surely deserves a pat on their back. Check out the website of their new film Aage Se Right and you will understand what we are saying. The address is www.gunontherun.com. Putting a bullet in a gun chamber was never so much fun!

Cast : The film stars Shreyas Talpade( Cop), Kay Kay (terroist) , Shiv Pandit(tapori), Mahie Gill (journalist) and Shenaz Treasurywala (aspiring actress).

Produced by UTV Spotboy and directed by debutant Indrajit Nattoji, Aage Se Right is a comic caper.

Synopsis : Set in Mumbai, Aage Se Right is all about chance and coincidence. Its five days of chaos, panic and mayhem. It revolves around a cop and terrorist. The cop ( Shreyas) loses his gun and the terrorist (Kay Kay) loses his heart. The two worlds meet and it leads to hilarious situations. A satire of our chaotic times.

Here are some pics of the Kites cast and crew from the ongoing Cannes Film Festival 2009. Produced by Rakesh Roshan and directed by Anurag Basu, Kites has Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles.
