freida-pinto miral

The Diving Bell and the butterfly – in recent times, we havent seen a film more powerful than this one. When we heard the story, it seemed too difficult to be adapted into a film. When we saw the film, we had no words. Watch it to know the language of cinema.

Julian Schnabel, who directed The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is directing a new film called Miral. Its based on a book of the same name, written by Palestinian-Italian Rula Jebreal, who has co-written the script.  Jebreal is a hugely popular broadcaster, known of her views on  immigration and foreign affairs.

The book is about Hind Husseini, who attempts to open an orphanage, and eventually does, in Jerusalem after the war in 1948 and the struggles thereafter. The film’s events will start in 1948 and end with Husseini’s death in 1994. Hiam Abbas (The Visitor) plays the lead role in the film. Freida Pinto also stars in it, plays the role of a palestinian girl ( see pic).

The film is shot entirely in Israel and the Palestinian territories.

First came out the pics and now the video. Dev Patel and Freida Pinto were spotted together in Tel Aviv. Though the Slumdog Millionaire actors have denied any link ups but it seems they are a couple now. Freida is shooting for Julian Schnabe’s film Miral currently.

If you missed the pics, here is the link.

After many denials, they have finally come out together. Or were they caught ? People magazine has published exclusive pictures of Dev Patel and Freida Pinto, sharing a meal at a restaurant in Tel Aviv. The Slumdog Millionaire actors came close during the worldwide promotional activities of the film.

Freida already has few big films in her kitty. She is currently shooting for Julian Schnabel’s new film Miral. Dev flew in from London to be with her. Dev’s mother has confirmed that the two are a couple. All it takes, is just one film!

Yashraj Films never believed in any kind of film promotional events. They always believed that they have the stars. Events or no events, they will be able to sell the tickets. They dont need anything else.

UTV did the opposite. Did all possible promotional stuff. They went ahead with the big idea of the films, stars or no stars. And in the last two years UTV has gone much ahead of Yashraj Films in every sense of cinema and its business. With a bunch of disasters and stupid movies in their kitty, the Yashraj brand no longer has the charm or the power. Gone are the good old days.  Earlier   they used to bully around with multiplexes, distributors and sometimes, even with the press. Not any more.

It seems Yashraj Films have realised their fault. So, they invited the media to announce their new film Pyaar Impossible. Jugal Hansraj will direct the film and Uday Chopra will star in it alongwith Priyanka Chopra. If gossipmongers are to be believed, the film is inspired by Julia Roberts starrer Notting Hill.

And even the pics of the muhurat have been given out to media. Well, desperate times, desperate measures. May be, for some more buzz. Hope Aditya Chopra learns few more lessons from UTV soon.

Glamsham.com has published the muhurat pics of Pyaar Impossible.

sallu girlfreind - claudiaHe is not only known for his phirang accent. But Salman Khan loves everything  that got a bit of firangi touch. And according to Mid-day, Salman Khan has a new friend, whom he is helping in her acting career. The friend is Claudia Ciesla, a german supermodel.

And who is this Claudia ?

Well, she began modelling at 15. At 17, she moved to Germany from Poland and became an Internet glamour model. The German newspaper Bild arranged an examination of Ciesla by a plastic surgeon and reported, that her breasts (size: 38DD) were entirely natural.  With Sallu’s help, we are sure she can beat Katrina anyday. It all depends on Sallu bhai’s mood and lil bit of luck. Thats it!

sanjay_leela_bhali2…….for his new film Guzaarish starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. He tried his talent in Saawariya too. If we remember correctly, he did compose one song in Saawariya.

Also, those who know him well, claim that the music of Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam belongs completely to him. Ismail Darbar just executed it. And thats why, without Bhansali, he is nowhere.

Guzaarish will have eight songs and Bhansali has already composed four. Woohoo..we are waiting to hear music director Sanjay Leela Bhansali now!

kites1Its one of the most awaited film of the year. Anurag Basu’s Kites. Produced by papa Rakesh Roshan and starring beta Hrithik Roshan with Barabara Mori and Kangana Ranaut. Every small detail about the film has been kept under wraps.

Indiafm has published the synopsis of the film. Incase you have missed it, here it is.

In the harsh terrain of the Mexican desert, a mortally wounded man is left for dead in the heat of the desert sun. This is J (Hrithik Roshan) – once a street smart, carefree young guy and now a wanted man. As death looms, the only thing that keeps him alive is the quest to find the love of his life, Natasha (Barbara Mori). A woman, betrothed to another man, surely destined for J. A woman, who comes into his life like a bolt of lightning, and changes his life forever.

Love is a moment. The moment J and Natasha saw each other, words were not necessary. In that moment, they knew instantly that they belonged together. But, something went wrong. The ensuing fight of the two lovers results in a deadly chase. J battles death but nothing can prepare him for what he is about to discover.

Kites is a story of love that goes beyond barriers, boundaries and cultures. It is a story of passion that defies every rule, of a relationship which takes two lovers on a journey that is filled with violence and death, of precious moments that are unforgettable. Finally it is a story of betrayal that is beyond comprehension.

ram-gopal-varmaControversy’s child Ramu doesnt want to sit silent. After Censor Board banned his jana gana rann promo of the new film Rann, Ramu has now decided to move to High Court to appeal againt the ban.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan,  Ritesh  Deshmukh, Sujeet and Paresh Rawal in the lead.

Here is Ramu’s letter about the ban and his plan to move to High Court.

The Censor Board has decided to refuse to certify ‘Jana Gana Rann’ for Public Viewing.

The Censor Board order alleges that the promo violates guidelines 2(xix) of Section 5B2 of the Cinematograph Act 1952 and also constitutes an offence under The Insult to National Honours Act, 1971.

This action of the Censor Board is arbitary and unconstitutional. Guideline 2(xix) of the Section 5B2 of the Cinematograph Act 1952 says :

“national symbols and emblems are  not shown except in accordance with the provisions of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use), Act 1950.”

According to this interpretation by the Censor Board, no Indian Film can show the Tricolor, Rashtrapati Bhavan or the Parliament House. And, if the Censor Board did take that position, they could ask us for relevant cuts in the promo. In the whole promo of  2 mins and 10 secs there are two shots of the same for exactly 8 seconds.

The Second objection raised by the Censor Board is The Insult to National Honor Act amended in 2003. The relevant section (Section 3) states as under:

“3. Prevention of singing of Indian National Anthem, etc.

Whoever intentionally prevents the singing of the Indian National Anthem or causes disturbance to any assembly engaged in such singing shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.”

The act relates to preventing the singing of the National Anthem in public or causing disturbance to any assembly. In this case there is no such violation.

Article 19 guarantees freedom of speech and expression and freedom of trade amongst others fundamental rights. Every citizen has the right to freely express and freely carry the trade unless it is contrary to the peace and integrity of the country. By denying me the right to release this promo to the public at large, the Censor Board is violating my fundamental right.
