Kunal VijaykarGot some exclusive dope on directorial debut of Kunal Vijaykar. Read on to know more.

Kunal Vijaykar, the funny foodie man is not so happy these days. His directorial debut Fruit and Nut is ready for release since quite some time but the producers ( Studio 18) of the film are not at all happy with it. They can’t make out head or tail out of it. So Kunal has been asked to re-edit the film to make some sense out of it. Also, its release has been postponed to next year. No date has been fixed.

Fruit and Nut stars Cyrus Broacha, Boman Irani & Dia Mirza. Its written by Sharat Kataria, dialogue writer of Bheja Fry.

fruit n nutStory/plot/synopsis : Its a madcap comedy with a central character named Jolly Maker (Cyrus Broacha), who is a simple, hard working middle class struggling bachelor in search of love, money, friends and success. Jolly Maker works as a clerk in office of a greedy and corrupt builder named Khandar. He is typically nerdy, un-stylish, accident-prone and leaves a trail of disaster behind him.

One fine day in broad daylight, Jolly Maker’s beautiful, sexy, smart and snobbish colleague, Monica (Dia Mirza), gets mysteriously kidnapped. Through a roller coaster ride and series of comical mishaps, Jolly Maker finds himself in the middle of plot that has been hatched by an insane Ex- Maharaja (Boman Irani) to destroy Mumbai!! Whether the poor, adorable, accident-prone Jolly Maker finally falls in love or not, gets his girl or not and above all is able to save Mumbai or not, makes for rest of the film.

Kamal HaasanThats what the news reports suggests. It was suppose to be a big budget film starring Kamal Haasan & Asin. Walt Disney was producing it and to be directed by Bharatbala.

Problem ? Kamal Haasan. It seems he wanted changes in the script and backed out when the changes weren’t made. Our guess – He must have asked Bharatbala to cast him in all the possible 19 roles in the same film! Thats what he has been doing these days.

Current status – Most probably Asin will also back out of the film as she decided to do it because of Kamal Haasan. The makers are now talking to Vikram for the same part. Music is by A R Rahman. And here’s the synopsis, according to wikipedia…

The story of this film revolves around a Japanese samurai warrior (Tadanobu Asano) who travels to Kerala to learn the secrets of the ancient Dravidian martial art of Kalaripayattu from a veteran martial art trainer (Kamal Haasan). In the process he falls in love with a beautiful Chera princess (Asin Thottumkal). Whether he learns the martial art and whether he wins his love or not, forms the core of the story.

We never thought that we will suffer from K-mania but blame it on Vishal Bhardwaj. And with every small discovery we feel the same – Kaminey is Killer! The movie of the year. A regular reader of our blog mailed us a new poster of Kaminey. Have a look. It stars Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

LuckIts DOOMED.

The weather was cloudy. But still no signs of rain. We went to Juhu beach to have some chana zor garam. Ripley’s Believe It or Not ! As we unwrapped the pack, we discovered that its the first page from Luck’s script. Imran Khan’s new film directed by Soham Shah. It also stars Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty, Danny Denzongpa and Ravi Kishan.

We ran back to the chana-wala and asked him for some more chana. And as chewed more chana, the complete script came out, page by page.

We first wrote about it here and now we got the proof.

The script seems to be one of the earlier drafts. But in terms of story/plot/synopsis, there is lot of similarity (read plagiarism) between Luck and the two films 13 Tzameti and Intacto. Yes, Soham can take credit for killing 13 Tzameti.  The screenplay is credited to Rensil D’ Silva and felt like reading five episodes of reality tv show Khatroon Ke Khiladi back to back. And a boring one.

If  the hero and heroine are participants in a game where you can survive only by winning, you don’t need brains to figure out who will win the game in the end. Its hindi phillum.

Last time when we wrote about the script of Guzaarish and put up this post ( read here & here) , it made headlines and lot of readers questioned us. So this time, here is a scene of Luck from the script. Need we say more! We don’t lie.

The scene summarises the film. We are guessing Ram is Imran Khan and Khan is Sanjay Dutt.

Ram

You know about…

Khan

I told you. Khan knows everything. (He takes some notes and shoves them into Ram’s hand.)Luck is a crazy thing Ram. Not many people have it. It’s more valuable than all that money you’re holding in your hands. Because, luck is what makes money for people. For you. For me.

Ram

Who are you?

Khan

You could say I’m an invester.

Ram

Invester… like in the stock market?

Khan

No.

Ram

Property…real estate?

Khan

Not really. You see I invest in something far better (leaning close to Ram now). I invest in luck. People’s luck.

Dear Imran,

After all those big talks, you signed this film ( read this shit)!  Aapka to bad Luck hi kharab hai unless it turns out to be one more surprise hit like Race or Ghajini. You can never figure out the audiences IQ. So hope for the best that the dumbs turn out in hordes.

As we read the script while chewing chana garam which seemed more interesting than the script, we could hear only one dialogue. Remember Kidnap. Imran & Sanjay Dutt.

Sanjay Dutt – Go to hell.

Imran Khan – Hell is right here Raina!

(This one is no different. And yey like Minisha Lamba in bikini, this one got Shruti Hassan in swimming pool.)

We surely arent buying the tickets. Give us 13 Tzameti anyday anywhere!

But the big question is where the hell is Mallika Sherawat ? The motor mouth siren who hit the headlines with bold statements has vanished from Bollywood these days. Hissss is the new ssshhh in her life. It seems she is in Los Angeles, trying her luck in Hollywood and is busy with her new film Hissss in which she plays an icchadahri naagin! Wooh!

And the dare bare actress is smart enough to keep herself in the news and make the right buzz. She was spotted with musician Yanni and well known music composer Ric Wake recently at Ivy Restaurant, Los Angeles. And if rumours are to be believed she is in serious discussions with Yanni and Ric as she wants to perform a snake dance during his next concert in India.

We wonder if Yanni will play the naagin dhun for Mallika Hissss Sherawat to dance ? If nothing else, she is hitting the right notes atleast.

BTW, Hissss is directed by Jennifer Lynch, daughter of David Lynch. And the cluless bald man with Mallika is Govind Menon ( of Khwahish, Kis Kiski Kismat and Bachke Rehna Re Baba shame)

There are four pics and a video of Mallika Sherawat with Yanni and Ric Wake. Check them out.

For Hissss trailer, click here. And for first look/plot/story/synopsis click here.

Thats what the buzz is. We would like to believe its NOT. Plagiarism ? Not again! Because we have never heard of Imtiaz Ali as dvd director. But then, you never know. May be only the basic idea, story, plot or synopsis. Or it can be coincidence. Lets check out.

Zui Hao De Shi Guang ( Three Times)

To quote from Imdb.com –

Zui Hao De Shi GuangThe film wisely opens with the most successful of the three ‘Times’ – 1966 A Time for Love – – tracing the emergence of timid passion between a lad headed for the military and a young girl who works in a pool hall. They communicate by letters after their first brief introductory encounter and circumstances interfere with the progress of their relationship in 1966 Taiwan.

The middle section 1911 A Time for Freedom is gorgeous visually and conceptually the director has elected to use the cinematic form of the period (silent movie) to tell his story about the freeing of a young girl from the grip of a brothel madam and surveys the political tensions between Japan and China as the quietly lighted story of love and yearning unfolds.

The film ends with 2005 A Time for Youth and here our lovers are caught up in the pollution of smog, cellphones, emails, nightclubs, and infidelities for same sex affairs that speak loudly about the tenor of the times.

Two actors play the lead roles in three stories set in three different years.

And here is a promo of the film

Love Aaj Kal

loveaajkalposter 2Love Aaj Kal is the story of Jai ( Saif Ali Khan) and Meera (Deepika Padukone). It starts at a cafe in London which is run by Veer Singh ( Rishi Kapoor). The duo meet, jump into bed first and then they fall in love. With Jai-Meera’s love story, there is parallel track of Veer Singh, his love story with Harleen, which happens in flashback and is set in Delhi. One is today’s love story and the other is of yesteryears. Saif Ali also plays the younger Veer Singh (Rishi Kapoor).

Veer does not understand how Jai can treat matters of the heart without passion, like a financial transaction. Jai does not understand how Veer Singh could have been so naïve and silly about Harleen in the days of his youth. But as both stories unfold, we realize that the process of relationship might be different in different eras, but the experience of being in love remains the same.

So there is the frolic and despair of modern living, the liberation and confusion. And there is the past – the times of innocence and compulsion. And there is distance, and the fondness that increases with distance. Gaps widen between two people, but bridges keep growing too.

Conclusion

The basic idea suspiciously sounds similar. One is Love Aaj Kal and the other is Love Aaj Kal Parsoon. One is Two Times, other is Three Times. But since its Imtiaz Ali, we would like to reserve our comments till its release. Lets see.

We are loving it! We got two new posters of Kaminey and we want to kill the waiting game now! Have a look and let us know what you guys feel about the posters. BTW, the man in blue, looking upward, in left hand corner of the first poster is Amole Gupte ( writer – Taare Zameen Par). Killer looks!

Sankat CityWe had no clue about this film. Recently saw its promos on air, which has a huge hangover of Johnny Gaddar, but seemed interesting. Its the directorial debut of Pankaj Advani and stars Kay Kay, Rimi Sen, Anupam Kher, Yashpal Sharma, Rahul Dev and Chunky Pandey.

We got its synopsis and more details. Read on.

Sankat City – money, murder, revenge, greed, fear, deceit, fun-n-frolic and romance! It got all the masla and is a fast paced comic thriller.

Guru (KK Menon) is a smalltime car thief. Ganpat, who owns a dilapidated garage, is his partner-in-crime. Guru steals cars and Ganpat (Dilip Prabhavalkar) gives them a make-over in order to sell them as new ones.

One night, while returning to his kholi, Guru chances upon a swank Mercedes parked outside a brothel, unattended. He steals the car and takes it to Ganpat. While working on the car they discover a sum of Rs. 1 crore in the boot. They are happy at the unexpected turn of events and start dreaming. Little do they know what lies in store – for the car and the money belongs to a vicious gangster and loan shark called Faujdaar (Anupam Kher)!

Guru tries to sell the stolen Mercedes to Suleman Supari (Rahul Dev), a hitman, who recognizes the car and notifies his friend Faujdaar. Scared, Guru squeals that the moolah is in Ganpat’s garage. Faujdaar sends his henchman with Guru to retrieve the cash.

Unknown to them, the paranoid Ganpat has hidden the money in what he thinks is a safe place in his garage, because he’s afraid that thieves might rob him off the cash. By the time henchman Lovely and Guru reach the garage, Ganpat is involved in an accident, which results in a temporary loss of memory!

Guru can’t find the money anywhere and he has no clue where the amnesic Ganpat has hidden it. A vengeful Faujdaar decides to bump off Guru, who pleads for his life and begs for a chance. The sadistic Faujdaar gives him a grace period of 3 days to cough up the dough.

With no hope in sight, a dejected Guru almost resigns himself to death, when he bumps into Mona, a con woman who had teamed up with him in a smalltime con job a few years back. The heist had been a success, but Mona had vamoosed with all the money, leaving Guru in a lurch. She’s right now in the process of putting a sting on a builder, Pachisia (Yashpal Sharma), for which, she requires a partner. Since Guru needs the dough quick, he hesitantly teams up with Mona (Rimi Sen).

Mona and Guru successfully con a large sum of money off the builder only to lose it again to a strange quirk of fate. The story then weaves itself to a thrilling climax, going through a series of hilarious events, comic situations and nerve wracking moments.

Also starring Chunkey Pandey in a double role as Sikandar Khan the actor and his body double, Manoj Pahwa as the director, Sanjay Mishra as his assistant, Hemant Tiwari as Philip Fattoo, Virendra Singh as Faujdar’s guru and a bunch of other actors.

Will Guru be able to return the money to Faujdaar, who is a great stickler for time? Will Mona get the better of Guru yet again? Will the poor Ganpat regain his lost memory? Will the sankat be over for all the people involved? Its Sankat all over!

The film releases on 3rd July, 2009.
