khalid…..is back. And what a bitch he is. But we absouletly love him. Because when he uses those sharp claws, he is damn interesting. No,  we are not talking about Wolverine. He is apna desi wolverine in scribe’s get up. Its Khalid Mohamed, critic turned filmmaker turned bitch turned blogger. He has started blogging on aslibaat.com and the first victim of those sharp claws are Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Here is the link to the post.

Btw, if you are wondering why Vikram Bhatt is also on the same page, then let us explain. Vikarm and Khalid are the new best friends. When Khalid was the editor of HT Cafe, he gave space to Vikram to write his weekly column. Now Vikram is returning the favour. Aslibaat.com is ASA productions’ venture and Vikram is part of ASA, which produced his last few films. Also, if gossipmongers are to be believed, Vikram is soon going to produce Khalid’s next film.

Filmmaker Onir has revealed the first poster of his next film Abhimanyu. He is making five short films and will put them all together to make a feature. Abhimanyu is the story of a child abuse survivor. Anyone can contribute and become a producer for this film. For more details, click here.

Mallika Sherawat was invited to visit the new ashram in Karnataka and number of pujas were organised for her.  Mallika also initiated a new Hanuman temple on the site, where the largest Hanuman monument, over 15 storeys, will be built. Isnt Hanumanji a brahmachari ? Its ghor anyay to call Mallika Sherawat for our brahmachari devta. What if he gets all weird dreams ? Why isnt anyone protesting ? Where are the hindu fanatics ? After Socha Na Tha and Jab We Met, we are eagerly looking forward to Imtiaz Ali’s new film Love Aaj Kal. It stars Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. Its co-produced by Illuminati Films, Saif’s home production banner. Here’s the first look of the film….though it doesnt say much, but to us, it looks very cold. Almost dead. No chemistry. Ashutosh Gowariker to make 200 crore Buddha!

ashutosh gowarikerYes, the news is true. DNA has more details about the film. Here is quick update about Ashutosh Gowariker’s new film Buddha. For easy reading, we have cut out all the boring gyaan for you

– The film will be in english.

– Its produced by Spice Infotainment. And the budget is 200 crore. WTF!

– The script has been written by Oscar winner David Ward ( The Sting, Sleepless in Seattle n others).

– The movie will go on floor on May 2010 and will be completed by the end of the year. 

– Buddha will be shot in the foothills of Himalayas.

– Most probably a foreign actor will play the title role of Buddha. Its still not decided.

Wooohoo…this looks like Ashutosh Gowariker’s big ticket! 200 crore! Really 200 crore! we still cant get over the figure.

Some quick bollywood updates of the day.

1. Aparna Sen’s long in the making Gulel may roll soon. Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar have agreed to do the film. Ranbir came on board through Konkona Sen (Wake Up Sid ) and Farhan through Shabana.

2. Dostana’s sequel is on. And this time there is one more gay couple. Ritesh Deshmukh and Shreyas Talpade have been signed for the same. 

3. Richa Chaddha ( Dolly of Oye Lucky Lucky Oye) has finally got a film. She has signed Yunus Sejawal’s new film alongwith with Kay Kay Menon and Rajpal Yadav.

4. Chandrachur Singh is alive! Yes, the Maachis actor will soon be seen in a film titled Maruti Mera Dost. The film is by Chandrachur’s brother Abhimanyu Singh.

5. Nishikant Kamat is going back to his Julie ( he wrote the film) days. This time its not Julie, but John Abraham who will star in his film. UTV will  produce the film. Nishi earlier directed Dombivili Fast and Mumbai Meri Jaan. 

6. Shekhar Kapoor is still making Paani. And when he is not making it, he is going to be a judge on a reality show. India Got Talent, a new show on colours will have Shekhar Kapoor as one of the three judges. Known for his roving eyes, we are sure Shekhar will look out for some special talent.

7. More and more actors are saying no to Kunal Kapoor. Yes, its confirmed now. Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor also said no to him. Will Aditya Chopra save him finally?

8. Nikhil Advani is back from China and planning any African safari as indicated in the film Chandi Chowk to China.  This time he is not planning any big budget ambitious film. He is soon going to start a film titled Tanu Weds Manu starring  R Madhavana and Shahana Goswami. Update 11/05 – Nikhil Advani is not directing the film. It will be directed by Anand Rai (directed Strangers earlier).

9. More troubles for Ravi Chopra. After the plagiarism controversy came out, Big Picturs has made it clear that its not interested in buying Chopra’s Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai any more. They have even asked him to return the advance money.  The film is a copy of hollywood film My Cousin Vinny and the matter is in court. The complete dope on plagiarism story is here.

10. Roshan Abbas is soon going to make his debut as a director. Shah Rukh
Khan will produce his film. Whether he will star in it or not, its not clear yet.

Rann’s Jana Gana Rann banned!

Finally! Censor Board has banned the song of Ramu’s new film Rann. And it was bound to happen. Ramu knew it from the beginning. Actually they wanted it to happen desperately. Thats why even before getting the censor board certificate, the makers of the film gave out the song clips to every news channels to play it and get some free publicty.

Now it seems all their publicity plans have gone for a toss. Because with elections and IPL fever on television, Rann’s controversy didnt get much airtime. And if you still havent seen the song, take a look.
