Its bit early but its a big one and so the reviews have already started trickling in.

Taran Adarsh (Indiafm) – Earth shattering opening weekend & historic week 1 – 3.5 stars

Gaurav Malani ( Indiatimes) – This one is dumb-akkht ishq! – 1 star

Raja Sen ( Rediff) – The pursuit of akkiness – 1.5 star

Mayank Shekhar (NDTV) – I dare you to watch it – 1 star

Mayank Shekhar (Hindustan Times ) – Surgeon genereal’s warning – 1 star (Is Mayank writing two reviews of the same film ?)

NYTimes – The bollywood sign.

Rajeev Masand ( CNN IBN) – Kambakkht Ishq is vulgar & offensive – 1 star (poor)

Kaveree Bamzai (India Today) – Punjabi family porn – 2 stars

Shubhra Gupta ( Indian Express) – Perfect for the undemanding-whats-new-at-the-plexes crowd. 

Minty Tejpl (Mumbai Mirror) – Crass N risque – 2 stars

Baradwaj Rangan (New Indian Express) – Old is cold.

As expected, its Taran Adarsh on one side and rest of them in other. That’s the differnce between a trade analyst and a  film critic.

Luv Khanna is 26 year old model & engineer from Delhi. And the reason why people are looking for him is because he is on Rakhi Ka Swayamvar. The tv show on NDTV Imagine. Or its a game show ? Or new season of laughter challenge ? Yeh, think so. Is it for real ? Or scripted ? Whatever. And he is considered to be a strong contender. Suchita BhhatiaWho is this Suchita Bhhatia ? Whats her background ? That’s what Kabir Khan, the director of New York is wondering. And like him, if you are in the same boat we got the dope.

Suchita Bhhatia – Freelance writer. Have worked on Ad films with Dibakar Bannerjee. Done the making of Piyush Jha’s Sikandar & Bhavna Talwar’s Happy. Last job with Bhavna Dharam Talwar. Is from Delhi.

new yorkHer story – In 2006, she emailed Aditya Chopra introducing herself as a screenwriter. Chopra replied back and asked her to meet Arjun Sablok. She met Sablok & narrated him two story ideas. One was Osama – A Love Story. Two lead characters. Set in New York. They are in college. Fall in love. Gets married. 9/11 happens. The guy is muslim, is picked up and is sent to jail. Illegal detention. Torture. Harsh life. He comes out of jail and joins a terrorist group. Her script is registered with FWA ( Film Writers Association).

The basic premise of the story suspiciously sounds similar to New York’s main plot.

Yashraj Films version – Arjun Sablok says he doesn’t remember meeting her or hearing any story similar to New York. Kabir Khan has no clue because she never met him and doesn’t even claim so. Kabir Khan says she is doing it all for free publicty and claims that Aditya Chopra doesn’t reply to any stranger’s email.

Current status – Suchita has lodged a complaint with FWA ( Film Writers Association). Submitted email proofs and her story. Yashraj Films has decided to file a defamation case againt her. Is it to scare her or is it for true ? Not confirmed yet.

The HangoverIts The Hangover. By plagiarising or by buying the official remake rights. Its the Death at a Funeral of 2009. It was the same scene with Death At A Funeral last year and Indra Kumar made it into Daddy Kool. Ofcourse by plagiarising and had to pay later on. Click here for full report.

Back to The Hangover. It got the star ratings and box office business too. Whoever has seen it, loved it. Its the current remake favourite of bollywood. Almost every producer wants to remake it because in bollywood, comedy is considered to be safe bet always. Wish we could just learn one lesson for them. How they delivered such a big hit without any big names attached to it. Few things we will never learn.

Also in the queue, is a fourty plus actor who made headlines for his marriage, re-marriage & politics recently. He is already talking to the producers of the film. But it seems Warner Brothers is not willing to give the remake rights to anyone. They want to produce the remake themselves.

Looking at Warner Brothers’ slate of film here, Saans Bahu Aur Sensex & Chandi Chowk To China, we suggest that its better to make some money by selling the remake rights, instead of delivering one more dud. 

BTW, we loved it! Its the rudest, crudest & funniest film of the year! Don’t miss it. The fat bearded Jesus is the show stealer.

Two new jingles in loop & clueless too!

Sometime back it was….fuharein…..baucharein…nazarein….kuch boondein chura lo na……featuring Sushma Reddy….we had the Limca jingle in non-stop loop. After that it was a long dry season. Finally we have discovered two new jingles and are hooked on to it. Check them out. We are going mad googling who wrote & composed the jingles. So far no clue. If you have any clue, do let us know.

First one is of Bajaj Allianz. Yaara o yaara…..yeh kis pyaari hifazat me befikri ki halat hai…the shot of the woman on the bike, tied to the man….aha…visuals that match up with the lyrics. The voice is Sukhwinder Singh for sure. Lyrics ? Music ? Gulzar & Vishal Bhardwaj ? Thats what a comment on the video link says. Not sure. Can anyone confirm.

The other is Samsung mobile featuring Aamir Khan….Sirf ek hal hai…jeena ka yeh pal hai…..thodi zindagi chakh lo…. Our status is the same with this one. No clue who has written & composed it. We are born curious. Till we get to know, will be having sleepless nights.

We got two new pics from the set of Karan Johar’s new film My Name Is Khan. It stars Shah Rukh Khan & Kajol in the lead. The film is being shot at San Francisco these days.

BTW, we read the script of My Name Is Khan recently. Will put a post on it soon. Think it got blockbuster written all over it in big bold black letters. And believe it or not, K Jo might end up delivering the heaviest political line ever said on desi screen. My Name Is Khan & I Am Not Terrorist!

The real reason why Katrina Kaif quit 7 Days in Paris

Katrina-KaifIts because of Aditya Chopra. The new mentor of Katrina Kaif.

It seems Katrina Kaif called up Aditya Chopra to get his feedback on the script of her new film 7 Days In Paris. As Salman Khan can’t do that one thing. He can surely call up his freinds and ask them to sign her. But he can’t make her quit a film unless she is doing a film opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

She had already signed the film and given a green signal to Sanjay Doom Gadhvi. Aditya Chopra read the script and realised that its a wrong film for Katrina. Because the first half of the film is all about walk the talk & talk the walk. Loaded with heavy dialogues. And so it will be much difficult for Katrina to carry such a role. The first half is much like Before Sunrise & Before Sunset.

Aditya Chopra told her to leave it or she might get really exposed. She is and should remain as Barbie Doll. The dialogue bit should happen haule haule…haule haule like love happened in Suriji’s life in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.  Katrina understood the situation and backed out of the film just a few days before the shoot.

Sanjay Gadhvi immediately tried his luck with Priyanka Chopra, who asked for Rs 5 cr. It was a straight NO. Kareena Kapoor and Asin were also approached but they said a polite no. Now it seems Genelia D’Souza has been signed to play the lead oppposite Imran Khan. The Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na pair is back again!
