Got some exclusive dope on directorial debut of Kunal Vijaykar. Read on to know more.
Kunal Vijaykar, the funny foodie man is not so happy these days. His directorial debut Fruit and Nut is ready for release since quite some time but the producers ( Studio 18) of the film are not at all happy with it. They can’t make out head or tail out of it. So Kunal has been asked to re-edit the film to make some sense out of it. Also, its release has been postponed to next year. No date has been fixed.
Fruit and Nut stars Cyrus Broacha, Boman Irani & Dia Mirza. Its written by Sharat Kataria, dialogue writer of Bheja Fry.
Story/plot/synopsis : Its a madcap comedy with a central character named Jolly Maker (Cyrus Broacha), who is a simple, hard working middle class struggling bachelor in search of love, money, friends and success. Jolly Maker works as a clerk in office of a greedy and corrupt builder named Khandar. He is typically nerdy, un-stylish, accident-prone and leaves a trail of disaster behind him.
One fine day in broad daylight, Jolly Maker’s beautiful, sexy, smart and snobbish colleague, Monica (Dia Mirza), gets mysteriously kidnapped. Through a roller coaster ride and series of comical mishaps, Jolly Maker finds himself in the middle of plot that has been hatched by an insane Ex- Maharaja (Boman Irani) to destroy Mumbai!! Whether the poor, adorable, accident-prone Jolly Maker finally falls in love or not, gets his girl or not and above all is able to save Mumbai or not, makes for rest of the film.
Shortkut – The con is On. Shortkut with a “K”, whatever that means. Produced by Anil Kapoor, directed by Neeraj Vora, written by Anees Bazmee and stars Akshaye Khanna, Arshad Warsi and Amrita Rao. And if the early reviews are any indication, its time to switch off the con even before it gets on!
Like me, if you belong to the tribe who loved Sanjay Khanduri’s Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, but never went to the theatre and managed to catch it only on tv/dvd after someone reccomeded it strongly, and you still feel guilty about it, then here is a chance to redeem yourself. Get your tickets booked for this week’s release Sankat City, directed by Pankaj Advani. His first release.
The dry days are finally over. The first big release of the season is New York, directed by Kabir Khan and stars John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, Neil Nitin Mukesh & Irfan Khan. The film’s reviews are out and they are as extreme as they can be. Did they all see the same film ? Doesn’t look like. Hav a look. For full reviews, click on the links.
Dibakar Banerjee is gearing up for not one but two films. A quickie and a biggie!
Our header has become too long. Because we could not prioritise which one is more important. We read the story of Sanjay Doom Gadhvi’s film 7 Days In Paris. We think Imran Khan should be worried about the choices he is making. And Katrina Kaif is out of the film. Since all three news bits are related, we have randomly put down our seven, ok, eight pointers. Join the dots and see if it makes sense.
5. Gadhvi is close to Vandana Malik, head of Studio18. Her daughter Avantika Malik is dating Imran. And Studio18 is producing the film. We doubt our mother-in-laws. We doubt those mom-in-laws more who can sign fat cheques. And a desperate mom-in-law who wants her daughter to get married to Imran Khan, is dangerous! Check check!
8. According to Mumbai Mirror, in the new script, Katrina Kaif’s role has been cut drastically. And so, she is not interested in doing the film anymore. You can read the full story

Go watch this movie. If not for anything, just the satisfaction value it offers by being crazy. If in Indian context our justification to make dreamy films is to say people don’t want to use their grey cells while watching films, this challenges every sense of logic you may have. Support this film – a very unoriginal effort – if that is the way you like your cinema.
Well the intial buzz suggests the same. Its an insane film fron the crazy guy Shashank Ghosh. If gossipmongers are to be believed, Shashank is quite frustrated because the film is complete and its release has not been scheduled yet. 20th Century Fox has bought the rights of the film and has been sitting on its cans for quite sometime. Why ? How ? Even Shashank doesn’t have any clue.
