Like us, are you guys also ROFL whenever you see the new Vodafone (Hutch) campaign ? If yes, then read on. Vodafone’s last campaign with the pug was a big hit. And if the intial response to their Zoozoo campaign is any indication, its a sureshot blockbuster. Who needs stars to endorse the brand when you have Zoozoos!! Small creatures, big heads and bigger idea.

zoozooAt a time when IPL is on and with so many tv commercials on air, its impossible to get the eyeballs and create the right buzz. So, ladies nad genteman, please put your hands together for Ogilvy India (the brains behind Zoozoo) and Nirvana Films (the production house which executed the plan).

And here is the big question. Are the Zoozoos real or animated ?

Well, we were wrong like everyone else. They are REAL. Yes, real human beings in body suits.

Agencyfaqs has published a detailed story on the making of Zoozoo – from idea level to execution. You can read the article here.

And if you still haven’t seen the Zoozoo tv commercial, then just click on the play button. Its a must watch.

Anurag Kashyap’s guest blog

The rebel voice of bollywood, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has written a blog at ibnlive.com. The headline says “Why can’t i question Modi or Manmohan?” Well, Mr Kashyap, you surely can. And we surely are fans of those who dare to question. Here is the full text of the blog. To sum it up, he says…

anurag-kashyapThe normal excuse for people like us is, “What can I do. My vote alone is not going to change everything,” but it does. If you think your vote alone can’t change everything then get your neighbourhood together. Motivate mohallah groups and committees to become a part of the process. And then together sit down and decide who to vote for.

Use civic reasons, reasons that will make your life better. Reasons that will provide you the things that you want. For that reason bring together the people, bring together the whole street, the gali, the mohallah. And together go out and vote. And then if the politicians do not fulfill their promise, they will know that they have to deal with a whole lot of people who are going to ask them questions and who have the power to reject them. Make sure you do that and however clichéd it may sound, but your one vote alone does count.

The filmmaker generally blogs at passionforcinema.com

karan joharMumbai Mirror has published details about Karan Johar’s next production. Its K3 G, oops only K3 – Karan, Kajol and Kareena. Again. Last time they came together for the blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham ( K3G).

The yet-to-be-titled film will be directed by debutante Siddharth Malhotra, who is production house Cinevistaa’s chairman Prem Kishen’s son and grandson of the late Prem Nath. Siddharth was the creative producer of the hit TV serial Sanjivani and was responsible for conceptualising and shaping it.

And according to gossipmongers, the film is loosley based on Hollywood film Stepmom which had Susan Sarandon and Juila Robers in lead roles.

How and why Nauman Sait won MTV Roadies 6.0 ?

For those of you who are mad about Roadies, am sure you guys know it all. The result is already out.  I missed it on sunday and saw the repeat. And for Naumat’s win, i think the credit/discredit goes to Raghu and his brother. Kiri could easily have won the Roadies if he had selected Palak in the final round instead of Nauman. But. And it was a big BUT!

nauman saitWhy ? Because after the first task, suddenly appears Raghu and his brother. They made sure that they convinced Kiri to select Nauman. And not Palak. Why ? Here is my theory. Because they were afraid that if Kiri won it then they would have to go  with a dumb guy as the Roadies winner. He is not the street smart type. He is the geeky kind. How can a show like Roadies have a winner like Kiri ? How can Ragu take it ? And everyone knew that if Kiri had selected Palak, he would have easily won it.

So, the Raghu brothers & co made sure that Kiri selected Nauman. They brainwashed him completely. In this case, if Nauman wins it, atleast they will get a cool looking dude ( who is equally dumb) to be the winner. And their strategy worked! Poor Kiri. Lost it because of Raghu and his brother.

raavanWhat we know : Mani Ratnam’s Raavan is modern day adaptation of the epic Ramayana.  Like Shakespeare’s Othello became Omkara, Raavan is set somewhere in the north and has a rural backdrop. Abhishek Bachchan plays the lead character ( Raavan) who kidnaps Aishwarys Rai ( Sita) and eventually Sita falls for him. Tamil star Vikram plays the role of Ram. Govinda’s role is inspired by Hanuman, Ravi Kissan plays Abhishek’s aide and Nikhil Dwivedi plays a cop.

raavan21What we just got to know : Priyamani, the national award winning actress from film Paruthiveeran plays the role of Shoorpanakha.

And actor Ashish Vidhyarthi plays the role of Abhishek Bachchan’s dad in the film.

After co-producing Manoj Night Shyamalan’s dud The Happening, UTV is venturing into Hollywood with its first independent production  ExTerminators.

Veteran cinematograher John Inwood of the popular US TV show “Scrubs” turns director with this one and it stars Heather Graham, Jennifer Coolidge, Matthew Settle, Joey Lauren Adams and Amber Heard.

ExterminatorsExTerminators is a dark comedy and revolves around Alex (Graham), a lonely accountant whose one act of rage results in her being sentenced to court ordered therapy. There she meets Stella (Coolidge), the owner of a small extermination business who uses her car as a weapon, and Nikkie (Heard), a dental technician with the face of an angel and the mind of a sociopath. Together these women will form their own “silent revolution” wrecking havoc on the abusive men in their lives.

And to know more about the film, you can read Ramu’s thoughts here. And to sum it up, here is Ramu with his wicked sense of humour…

I believe that Rakta Charitra is going to be the most defining film of my career not because of how well I will make it but sheerly because of the material I have at my hand. To put it simply I don’t have to work hard to make it well but I have to work hard to spoil it.

We hope and pray that Ramu doesnt work hard anymore!

Feroze Khan RIP

feroze-khan

He was the original dude of bollywood, the desi cowboy. Always high on style quotient and surrounded by damsels. Even at 70, he was still the same. Unlike others, he never try to hide anything that he loved.

News just trickled in : Feroze Khan is dead. He passed away at his Bangalore farmhouse on sunday late night. He was 70 years old and was battling cancer for more than a year.

Just a few days back(friday, i guess), he was discharged from Mumbai’s Leelavati Hospital. He wanted to visit his Bangalore farmhouse, was missing his pets, specially the horses. May be, he knew it all. The end was just too close.

Qurbani, Jaanbaz, Dayavan and Dharmatma were some of his big hits. The actor-director-producer was last seen in 2007’s blockbuster Welcome.

One of those days, nothing sounds quite right, even mood doesnt want to swing, may be just do nothing, think nothing. Complete blank. And then suddenly a song floats in, from somewhere, some corner. Mujhe jaan na kaho, meri jaan.

The sound of love, life and closeness. All it takes is one magical song. The soothing and sensous voice of Geeta Dutt. Music by Kanu Roy. Lyrics by Gulzarsaab. From film Anubhav, directed by Basu Bhattacharya.

Its all about silences and glances. Sanjeev Kumar and Tanuja – were they really in love ? Or is it what you call “chemistry” ? No clue. They dont make stars like them any more. We don’t create sounds and moments like these any more. Play. In non-stop loop.

Shashank Ghosh’s Quickgun Murugun had its premiere at the Indian Film Festival Of Los Angeles ( IFFLA). PFC has posted an early review of the film. Here is the full review. To quote from the review…

quickgun muruganGo watch this movie. If not for anything, just the satisfaction value it offers by being crazy. If in Indian context our justification to make dreamy films is to say people don’t want to use their grey cells while watching films, this challenges every sense of logic you may have. Support this film – a very unoriginal effort – if that is the way you like your cinema.

quickgun murugan2Well the intial buzz suggests the same. Its an insane film fron the crazy guy Shashank Ghosh. If gossipmongers are to be believed, Shashank is quite frustrated because the film is complete and its release has not been scheduled yet. 20th Century Fox has bought the rights of the film and has been sitting on its cans for quite sometime. Why ? How ? Even Shashank doesn’t have any clue.

In short, the film is a south indian spoof of a western cowboy (played by Rajendra Prasad). Sounds mad ? we are waiting.
