All the best! Happy writing!

Can someone please tell Ramu that you cant fool everyone all the time. You surely can make a joke of yourself by making one stupid film after another and still talking and giving gyaan like a Gyaan Guru. Get that GG avatar out of your heard, sir!

As if making horrible films is not a crime, Ram Gopal Varma has gone a step further. Ram Gopal Varma has always been Ram Gimmick Varma and he is still trying his luck with it.

For Phoonk, they ran a contest daring people to watch it in the theatre alone. Rules and regulations were not clear. And nobody knows what happened finally. Who watched, how, where, when. There were allegations that it was rigged. No answers.

Ramu did something similar for Agyaat too. It was a short film contest where it was announced that the winner will get to direct a film. We had put out a post on the same and when readers asked about the winner we had no clue. It seems no winner was announced and there were no prizes. Everything remained Agyaat! And here is the comment posted on our blog by one of the participants…

Has RGV become a fraud? This contest is a fraud on indian public. If u write on his blog asking about contest, ur comment will be DELETED. Try it urself. If makin bad films was not enuf he’s now cheating public with fake contest. That man has lost all sense of shame.

Ram Gimmick Varma is back again! For Phoonk 2. We would suggest, DONT trust the man and his gimmicks. But if you still want to, here is the official release on the contest.

The PHOONK 2 Scare Contest

• Before the release of “PHOONK” we had challenged that if any viewer could dare to see the film sitting all alone in a theatre and not run out scared he will get a Cash Prize of Rs.5 Lakhs.

• The contestant who took the challenge didn’t even last for 30mins and ran out of the theatre.

• After the release, some people alleged that the contest was rigged (Huh! Is it a way to admit it ? ) and that they never felt fear while watching the film. So now without going into a pointless argument on the same, we the Phoonk 2 team have decided to open ourselves to a scientific evaluation of that claim.

• For “PHOONK 2” we are going to implement our Contest in a very scientific way as never ever done before in the history of Cinema anywhere across the World. The viewer who will claim that he is not going to get scared will be fitted with a ECG machine while he is watching Phoonk 2 which will monitor his Heartbeat and Pulse rate and this will be shown live on a screen outside the theatre to both the Media and all concerned.

• A normal person according to professionals has a certain average heartbeat and when subjected to any kind of an intense emotion the beats will considerably go up. So if the challenger claims that he had no fear while watching Phoonk 2 the monitor will tell whether he is lying or not and on the other hand if he can control his fear and thereby his heartbeat and not let it cross his normal heartbeat then he will get to win the cash prize.

• The PHOONK 2 Team DARES any viewer to take this Challenge and watch PHOONK 2.

• We intend to launch the contest on 10th March on our official website www.phoonk2.in . This contest is Restricted to only healthy people with no history of Cardiac disease and also only to people who are between 18 and 60 years of age.

• The contest will be open for people across INDIA and based on a computerized random draw people will be shortlisted, who then further will have to give a medical indemnification for further selection by our team and a medical professional who will eventually single out the final Challenger to be subjected to the test. The Challengers normal heartbeat will be recorded before and while the screening is happening. We will also make sure that the contestant is actually watching the film without closing his eyes by shooting him Live through a night vision camera and showing his facial expressions to the media and all concerned on a screen outside the theatre. If at all he wins this challenge he will be awarded the Prize money right at the Venue in front of everybody.

PS: For any unforeseen situations an Ambulance will be on standby at the Theatre to monitor the contestants.

Phhonk 2 is directed by Milind Gadagkar and stars Sudeep, Neeru Bajwa, Amruta Khanvilkar and Ahsaas Channa. The film is releasing on 9th April 2010

Time to get scared! Very scared. Because Rahul Mahajan is back on tv. And this time for his Swayamvar. Its Season2 on NDTV Imagine. As soon as the show was announced, we were busy wondering just one thing – Why would someone want to marry Rahul Mahajan ? We still dont have an answer but have one more question that should explain it. Why would anyone want to marry Rakhi Sawant ?

But who knows, may be there are women who just love S&M! Otherwise, why would anyone want to marry a wife-beater and divorcee who is known for substance use! Its just S & M. So, here is the list of 15 lucky (!?) finalists!  Out of 15, three are from Delhi, three fom West Bengal, two each from Maharashtra, UP & Haryana and one participant each from Jammu, Punjab & Gujrat! Wow, so much love from North for this Marathi Manoos! And no entry from South!

Click on the pics to know their age, location, profession and more!

Also, fresh goss from Udaipur has started pouring in. Gossipmongers are saying that the woman who won the contest refused to marry Rahul Mahajan. She wanted to win it for some publicity, quick fame and cash in on it. She ran away from the show. So, the producers of the show are busy planning a re-shoot of the final episode of the show! But isnt that obvious. We can already see the sequel in the making…Mujhe Iss Rahul Se Bachao!

Aamir Khan went missing and landed up in Varanasi. This is part of the reality game to promote his new film 3 Idiots. Click here to know all about the game. And click on the play button to check out the visuals, Aamir Khan in a new avtaar roaming on the streets of Varanasi, looking for his ammi ka aangan.

And here is the second clue for the next destination –

Why ? For the promotion of his new film 3 Idiots. But still why ?

Because in the film also, Aamir Khan’s character suddenly vanishes one day and his two freinds, played by R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, goes out to look for him! Welcome to the world of concept based film promotions! They are calling it Alternate Reality Gaming (ARG). Aha! Though the idea is not original, as it has been tried out successfully many times in the west but its first time in India! So play on.

Aamir will be travelling across the country and hints will be given out to locate him. And every time you spot him, you get one point. The person/group who gets all seven points will be declared winner. And the winner gets to spend the new year with Aamir Khan. Naah, we dont have any dreams of spending the new year with him but the game sounds exciting for sure!

The first clue will be given out today by Sachin Tendulkar. Our sources say he is in Delhi today!

Here’s the video about the game, everything in Aamir’s words…..

Check out the song promo of behti hawa sa tha to join the dots about this promotion…

Our bet – He is going to be in Leh/Ladakh or wherever he goes in the film! They cant go beyond the concept of the film. Lets see.

The Man Beyond The Bridge (Paltadacho Munis) – We wrote about this Konkoni film’s selection at TIFF in this post. And now the good news! The film has bagged the FIPRESCI Discovery Prize, voted by members of the International Federation of Film Critics at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The film is directed by Laxmikant Shetgaonkar.

Laxmikant ShetgaonkarThe jury citation for Shetgaonkar’s film read: “Far from the sensory overload of India’s big cities, this film explores smaller but enduring dilemmas, drawing together keen environmental sensitivity with a nuanced view of village dynamics.”

Shetgaonkar studied theatre arts and began his career as an acting instructor at the National School of Drama in New Delhi. He has directed several theatre productions, as well as both documentary and fiction films. The script prior to its production also went under fine tuning in the Script Lab organized by NFDC in ‘Film Bazaar 2007’.

And here is the synopsis of the film…

man beyond the bridgeThe Man Beyond the Bridge is a story about Vinayak, a forest guard, who lives a lonely life, with just the memories of his dead wife in a Government house in the dense forests of Goa-Karnataka border. His repeatedly rejected pleas for a transfer by his superiors in the Department of Forests have left him bitter. One night, he comes across a filthy, unkempt mentally challenged woman lying in the compound outside his house. He drives her away but she keeps returning. From his initial irritation with her filthy appearance and irate behavior, he slowly gets used to her daily visits looking for food and sleeping in the courtyard. With time, he begins to derive comfort from her presence.

Vinayak’s growing relationship with the woman initially, attracts some comment but evokes a strong protest in the village only when she gets pregnant. The villagers question Vinayak’s right over mentally challenged and helpless woman. They maintain that his relationship is morally incorrect and should be ended. However, for Vinayak, the woman is his companion and the mother of his child and there is no dilemma in his mind over this. Thus begins a conflict between a society that refuses to take responsibility of such a woman and one man’s endeavour to integrate her in his life.

Luv KhannaAbout half a million (ok..make it lil less) readers are reading our blog everyday looking for some Luv Khanna! We are completely clueless about this Mr Luv or Lust Khanna and so decided to google more about him.

Luv Khanna is 26 year old model & engineer from Delhi. And the reason why people are looking for him is because he is on Rakhi Ka Swayamvar. The tv show on NDTV Imagine. Or its a game show ? Or new season of laughter challenge ? Yeh, think so. Is it for real ? Or scripted ? Whatever. And he is considered to be a strong contender. Those of you who are dying to see more of this Luv Khanna, check out the video. Its a must watch. Don’t miss the last bit. Kalyug ka Ram. We are ROFL!
